Vikan Zero Electronics Policy

Cellphone

To ensure student engagement and minimize distractions, Vikan Middle School has a zero electronics policy. This is a reminder of the procedures discussed in our recent meeting.

Cell Phone Confiscation Procedures

  • Parent/Guardian Retrieval: All cell phones confiscated from students must be retrieved by a parent or guardian.
  • Avoid Power Struggles: Do not get into a power struggle over a cell phone. Never grab, snatch, or use force to take a phone from a student. If a student refuses to hand over their phone, call for administrative support immediately.
  • Teacher Responsibilities: You are responsible for notifying the student's parents or guardians about the confiscation. You must also document the incident on Infinite Campus.
  • Secure Storage: After confiscation, store the cell phone in a secure, locked location, such as your desk or a cabinet. All confiscated phones must be delivered to the front office by the end of the school day.

Following these procedures will help us maintain a productive learning environment while ensuring a safe and respectful process for everyone.
