Prepare for Athletics for the 2025-2026 school year

Welcome back to the 2025-2026 school year. We would like to recommend scheduling an appointment for a Sports Physical if your student will be participating in sports for this school year. Students must have a current sports physical (good for 1 year) before they are able to participate in any sport. Students in 7th or 8th grade are able to participate in football, volleyball, wrestling, basketball, track and soccer. 6th grade students can only participate in the winter sports (Girls Basketball/Wrestling/E-Sports) and spring sports (Soccer/Track/E-Sports)

Vikan parents and students, we are excited for another year of athletics here at Vikan Middle School. We will be having our Fall Sports (Football and Girls Volleyball) parent meeting on Tuesday, August 19th at 5:00pm in the cafeteria. Please plan on attending if your son/daughter is planning on playing one of these sports this fall. The first day of practice is Tuesday, August 26th., immediately after school. Students will need a Sports Physical, Pay Athletic Fee and be up-to-date on all student fees, so please plan accordingly. We look forward to another successful year of athletics here at VMS. Team Offerings and Seasons 

 

FALL: Football and Girls Volleyball (August - October)

LATE FALL: Boys Basketball (October - Dec)

WINTER: Girls Basketball and Wrestling (January - March)

SPRING: Boys and Girls Soccer, and Track (March - May)

*6th graders may participate in the BOLDED sports

 

Academic/Behavioral Eligibility

In an effort to adhere to our student-athlete expectations, athletes will need to follow the behavior/academic expectations throughout the entire season. If these are not met, they will be asked to leave the team. These policies are in effect for all sports.

Academic Eligibility- Student-Athletes ineligible for 3 consecutive weeks are off the team.

• A student is INELIGIBLE if they have 2 or more D’s and/or 1 or more F grade in ANY class (including advisory, and exploratories). Sports eligibility will be pulled on Thursdays at 2:00pm. They will have until the following Tuesday morning to bring up their grades for a “2nd Check”, in order to play in the games for that week. If a student is ineligible, they are not allowed to participate in ALL the games for that week, but may still practice.

Behavior/Discipline- Emails from teachers about inappropriate behavior from our student-athletes does not reflect our school wide values. Students can be deemed ineligible if a discipline referral, suspension, or behavior is a problem and is at the Athletic Director/Coach’s discretion. 

 

Registration 2024-25

Below are the requirements for participation in athletics at Vikan Middle School:

1. Current Athletic Physical (normally they are good for up to 1 year)

2. Athletic Fee of $150 ($25 for Free and Reduced- MUST have F&R paperwork submitted and approved). Payable online or in the front office.

Atletismo Vikan

Ofertas de equipos y temporadas

OTOÑO: Fútbol y Voleibol (Agosto - Octubre)

FINALES DE OTOÑO: Baloncesto masculino (octubre - diciembre)

INVIERNO: Baloncesto femenino y libre (enero - marzo)

PRIMAVERA: Fútbol de niños y niñas, y atletismo (marzo - mayo)

*Los estudiantes de sexto grado pueden participar en los deportes BOLDED

 

Elegibilidad Académica/Conductual

En un esfuerzo por cumplir con las expectativas de nuestros estudiantes-atletas, los atletas deberán seguir las expectativas académicas/de comportamiento durante toda la temporada. Si estos no se cumplen, se les pedirá que abandonen el equipo. Estas políticas están vigentes para todos los deportes.

Elegibilidad académica: los estudiantes atletas que no son elegibles durante 2 semanas consecutivas están fuera del equipo.

Un estudiante NO ES ELEGIBLE si tiene 3 o más D y/o 1 o más F en CUALQUIER clase (incluidas las de asesoramiento y exploratorias)

Comportamiento/Disciplina- Los correos electrónicos de los maestros sobre el comportamiento inapropiado de nuestros estudiantes-atletas no reflejan los valores de nuestra escuela. Los estudiantes pueden ser considerados no elegibles si una remisión disciplinaria, suspensión o comportamiento es un problema y queda a discreción del director/entrenador atlético.

 

Matrícula 2023-24

A continuación se encuentran los requisitos para participar en atletismo en la Escuela Intermedia Vikan:

Físico atlético actual (normalmente son buenos hasta por 1 año)

Tarifa atlética de $150 ($25 gratis y reducido; DEBE presentar y aprobar la documentación de F&R). A pagar en línea o en la oficina principal.
