Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to thank all of you for assuring your students were here and prepared for TCAP testing this last month. All of our students were given the challenge of achieving 98% attendance for all days of testing. They accepted that challenge and as a promise to that challenge, Ms. Norris Buck and I will be spending 24 hours on the school roof beginning on Friday May 11^th at 10:45 am. Also that night we will be having a family fun night with a movie on the blacktop , Book Swap , hotdogs, music and fun . The next morning before we come down from the roof we will host a community pancake breakfast. Please mark your calendars so you can join us that evening or the next morning!  

Also if you are an 8^th grade parent please mark your calendars for 8^th grade continuation on Thursday May 24^th from 8:00 am. to approximately 10:30 a.m.

 

As many of you may have heard, I have accepted the position as Principal of Prairie View High School beginning July 1, 2012.

It was a difficult decision to make as I have been extremely happy and proud of the hard work we are doing here at Vikan however this was a great opportunity for me to go back to the high school level where I began my career as a teacher and a great opportunity for making a difference at this level as well.  I will continue the work we have started here at Vikan Middle School for the remainder of the year with our continued focus on student achievement and providing for a safe and positive climate. That being said, it is with great pleasure that I announce Ms. Trina Norris-Buck has been selected as my replacement as principal for Vikan Middle School after a lengthy interview process. I am confident Ms. Norris-Buck will continue the strong achievement focus and leadership in my absence.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support and allowing me the honor of being your child’s instructional leader. Please know that I am only a phone call away if there is anything I can help you with in the future.

Estimados Padres y Tutores:

 

Deseo agradecer a todos ustedes por asegurarse que sus hijos estuvieran aquí y preparados para las evaluaciones TCAP el mes pasado. Todos nuestros alumnos recibieron el reto de alcanzar el 98% de asistencia todos los días de evaluaciones. Ellos aceptaron el reto y como una promesa para ese reto, Ms. Norris Buck and yo pasaremos 24 horas en el techo de la escuela empezando el viernes 11 de mayo a las 10:45 am. También, esa noche tendremos una divertida noche familiar con una película al aire libre, intercambio de libros, hot-dogs, música y diversión. La mañana siguiente antes de que bajemos del techo tendremos un desayuno de hot cakes para nuestra comunidad. ¡Favor de marcar sus calendarios para que nos acompañen esa noche o la mañana siguiente!

 

También si usted es un papá de 8º grado favor de marcar sus calendarios para la continuación de 8º grado el jueves 24 de mayo de 8:00 am. a aproximadamente 10:30 a.m.

 

Como muchos de ustedes tal vez hayan escuchado, he aceptado el puesto de Directora en la Escuela Preparatoria Prairie View a partir del 1 de julio de 2012.

 

Fue una decisión difícil de tomar ya que he estado extremadamente feliz y orgullosa del arduo trabajo que estamos haciendo aquí en Vikan; sin embargo, ésta era una gran oportunidad para mí de regresar al nivel de preparatoria donde empecé mi carrera como maestra y una gran oportunidad de hacer una diferencia a ese nivel también. Continuaré el trabajo que empecé aquí en la Escuela Secundaria Vikan lo que resta del ciclo escolar con nuestra atención en los logros de los estudiantes y proporcionando un clima seguro y positivo. Habiendo dicho eso, anuncio con gran placer que Ms. Trina Norris-Buck ha sido seleccionada para remplazarme como Directora de la Escuela Secundaria Vikan después de un largo proceso de entrevistas. Confío en que Ms. Norris-Buck continuará enfocándose fuertemente en los logros y el liderazgo en mi ausencia.

 

Me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para agradecer a todos ustedes por su continuo apoyo y por permitirme el honor de ser el líder de la educación de su hijo(a). Por favor recuerde que estoy a sólo una llamada de distancia si hay algo que yo pueda hacer para apoyarle en el futuro.
